These areas have been tormenting me since 1999.

Rickenbacher around the Weapons upgrade (just before the hull breach).

Command, between the tram and the recharger plus at the third tram stop.

Rec deck crew quarters and the hallway near the irradiated room.

Ops D, from the upgrade station to the recharger.

Ops B, from the elevator to the recharger.

Engineering cargo bay 4-way intersection.

Med/Sci between the elevator, recharger, and 12-bullet replicator.

A few specific areas have always done that to me, and they still seemed to be the only ones on my most recent install. I did a couple of playthroughs recently and it didn't seem that bad. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I can't make any progress since I have to focus on taking out mobs as they come.

UPDATE: The spawning is now non-stop on the Ops deck. Considering that they are lootable, it's really more of a nuisance than a challenge. I'm cool with the respawning, I'm not trying to turn it off, but it is doing it way more than I recall. Additionally, there are those trapped bodies where three worms drop, and on a ton of them I am getting six or seven. In one area, I took out a dozen, one right after the other. There are are some spots where hybrids seems to spawn almost instantly. I have not set off a single security alert. There are areas where I clearly remember what is supposed to spawn and I am seeing double or more what I would expect. I do still remember a fair bit of the game and I am pretty sure that the spawn rates are amped up or something. I got the GOG version of the game since I do not own a computer with a CD drive anymore. SS2 is one of my all time favorite games so I decided to dust off this game, so to speak, and take another run through for old time's sake.
